Board of Colleges and University Development (B.C.U.D.), Savitribai Phule Pune University invite new research proposal every year under 'University Research Grant Scheme' submitted by the permanent approved teachers of university departments, Savitribai Phule Pune University and its affiliated colleges / institutions. The aim of the scheme is to strengthen quality research activity among the university and college teachers. Under this programme financial assistance provided maximum up to Rs. 3,00,000/- for the period of two years.

The process for final selection of the research proposals involves at 3 stages. In the first stage, research proposals received in response to this invitation will be scrutinized for the verification of attached documents. In second stage, the research proposal will be scrutinized and short-listed by the experts of respective subjects as per the guidelines. In the last stage, final selection of the projects will be done after evaluation of the expert committee, where investigators are required to make a presentation of 8 min. and clarify the points raised by the committee members.

The BCUD research proposal submission process is online. Principal Investigator has to use username and password provided by Savitribai Phule Pune University through respective colleges/ departments and recognized institutes. Principal Investigator should ensure to submit hard copy of Part-A (Bio-data), Part-B (Budget and Research Proposal), Part-C (Declaration) of the research project generated through online submission to the OSD/BCUD office, Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Eligibility conditions: The eligibility conditions for Principal investigator and co-investigator for the submission of research proposal under University Research grant scheme are as given below:

  1. Principal investigator must be permanent approved teacher of S. P. Pune University.
  2. The age of Principal investigator must be less than 58 years.
  3. Priority will be given to the teacher submitting research proposal first time
  4. Principal investigator should not have ongoing sanctioned BCUD research project at the time of release of the grant.
  5. The college/ institute should not have pending cases of previously sanctioned University Research Grant Scheme, if any.
  6. Principal Investigator, who has completed University Research Grant Scheme sanctioned project earlier and applying again for the research grant will be considered with fulfilment of following conditions
    • Principal Investigator should have publication in National / International repute journal run by prestigious institute or governing body based on previously completed University Research Grant Scheme project. (A committee will scrutinize level of publication and journal)
    • The final report and the expenditure file of earlier sanctioned University Research Grant Scheme project should have submitted in given stipulated time.
    • If funds available, after disbursement of the research grants to the teachers submitted project proposal first time.
    • Priority will be given to the teachers who has participated / guided in Avishkar research competition.

INNOVATION (Regional Research Conference for Teachers)

Savitribai Phule Pune University has been taken path breaking initiative by sanctioning about three thousand research projects to the University and College teachers since year 2006. The purpose of such an endeavor is to inculcate research environment at college level and helps University level teachers to meet their specific needs. BCUD has decided to organize faculty-wise regional research conference entitle 'INNOVATION' at various centers in order to facilitate the interaction among these teachers, evaluate the research work done by the teachers and provide guidance in respective disciplines. All the teachers working on research Projects under 'University Research Grant Scheme' and other interested teachers will necessarily participate in these conferences. Principal Investigators are requested to send the abstract along with the research project sanctioned letter to the respective centre and confirm their participation. Principal investigators working on recently sanctioned research project and those completed one year of the project are expected to present their work in the form of Power Point Presentation (PPT). Participation in INNOVATION is necessary for submitting financial statement of the research project in the central audit scheduled from time to time.

The Institute has appointed Dr. Hatim F. Kayumi as the Academic and Research Co-ordinator (ARC) under the directive of Board of College and University Development (BCUD), University of Pune, to act as a bridge between Institute and BCUD. This initiative helps the faculty members to avail the research grants from BCUD. The Institute has conducted Workshop on 'BCUD and its activities' so as to encourage faculty members to undertake research and get the research grant for the same.


The Institute considers research as a good complement for teaching and inculcates research culture amongst faculty and students by providing research facilities and conducting various research activities. The Institute also publishes the working paper series of various faculties. The Institute publishes student research publication periodically called 'Prayas - A Students' Research Publication (ISSN - 2249 - 6971)'.

The Institute also encourages students to publish research papers in 'Prayas - A Students' Research Publication'. The Institute also gives honorarium to the students for publication of research papers in journal.

The IMS library provides the books, journals, newspapers, magazines, e-resources and other reading material for the students to do research.

Research Journal

The Institute considers research as a good complement for teaching and inculcates research culture amongst faculty and students by providing research facilities and conducting various research activities. The Institute publishes a blind fold peer reviewed research journal periodically called 'Indian Journal of Current Trends in Management Sciences (ISSN-0976-1845)'.

IMS believes research as a good complement for teaching and publishes its Research Journal titled 'Indian Journal of Current Trends in Management Sciences' to promote research culture amongst faculty members. The Research Journal is published annually. The Research Journal is blind fold peer reviewed and is registered (ISSN 0976 - 1845). The Institute gives honorarium to faculty members for publishing research paper in this journal.

The Institute also publishes working papers of the faculty members. Such working papers are sponsored by the Institute.

The IMS library provides the books, journals, newspapers, magazines, e-resources and other reading material for the faculty members to do research.

Guidelines for Authors

  1. I.M.S. Research Journal welcomes articles / research contributions in the disciplines allied to Management, Commerce, Economics and Information Technology.
  2. Size: Articles / Contributions are expected to be of about 3500 to 6000 words including figures & tables. A Hard copy along with a Soft copy of the manuscript be submitted. This should be typed in 'Times New Roman' font size 12 with 1.0 inch margin on all four sides.
  3. Cover Page to include
    • Title of the paper/ article.
    • Details of the author(s) i.e. name(s), designation address(s), phone and fax number, e-mail address (s) of the author(s).
    • Acknowledgements, if any.
  4. Photograph: Please enclose a passport size colour photo.
  5. Abstract: Abstract of about 150 words should follow the cover page.
  6. References: The position of the reference should be indicated in the text within backsets by the author's last name and the year of publication; e.g. '(Sharma 1998)' or given as a sentence, e.g 'as pointed out by Sharma (1998)'. At the end of the text, references should be listed in the alphabetical order in the following manner:

  7. Certification: The authors should certify on the cover page that the article / contribution manuscript is not published, copyrighted, accepted or under review elsewhere. Authors should ensure that the article / contribution manuscript submitted to I.M.S. Research Journal, is not simultaneously submitted to any other journal, nor should it be submitted anywhere else during the pendency of the review process which will take about three months.
  8. Unaccepted article/ Manuscript: This will not be returned. However, after the completion of the review process and if the article manuscript is not selected, the author(s) is /are free to submit it elsewhere.
