What is Vidyarthini Manch Scheme?

Vidyarthini Manch Scheme is for women students of all colleges affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. This scheme is run by the Vidyarthini Kalyan Mandal (Student’s Welfare) of the University to develop the confidence and personality of a lady student. The main objective of this scheme is to develop a critical mind, self-confidence and a commitment to society. The lady students are given training in health, law, and social activities. They are also given training in self-employment and all possible other activities that enhance her social confidence. This scheme is open to all regular lady students from all the affiliated colleges / institutes. Funds for organizing these activities are provided by the University.


What are the objectives of Vidyarthini Manch Scheme ?

The objective of the Vidyarthini Manch Scheme are as follows:

  1. Personality development of women students
  2. Imparting health education to the women students
  3. Helping them to build their self esteem through workshops
  4. Helping them to develop their attitude for gender equity
  5. Motivating them for self employment by arranging lectures/seminars/workshops and providing them with information on the same
  6. Developing their awareness about sexual harassment in general context
  7. To address any issues/grievances related to women students


When was Vidyarthini Manch Scheme started in IMS ?

Vidyarthini Manch Scheme was started in 2005 in IMS.


How is the IMS Vidyarthini Manch Committee formed ?

As per the directives of Savitribai Phule Pune University, the Institute has to form Vidyarthini Manch Committee of ladies faculty at institute level. Vidyarthini 2 Manch Girl Students Committee is formed every Academic year, which consist of one girl student representative from each class.

What are the prominent activities conducted by IMS Vidyarthini Manch?

Some of the prominent activities conducted since the establishment of IMS Vidyarthini Manch are :

  1. SAMVAD, INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

    Every year the Institute organizes a programme to mark the International Women’s Day, which is called “SAMVAD”, as an activity of Vidyarthini Manch. In Smavad, some of the prominent women entrepreneurs and artistes who have excelled in their respective fields, and who have motivating life stories and experiences to share with our women students and the women of Ahmednagar city and district, are invited to the Institute.

  2. ‘HEALTH’ SEMINAR

    IMS Vidyarthini Manch organizes Health Seminars for women students. Prominent Gyneacologists are invited to speak to the women students on Nutrition, Hygiene and Health.

  3. HAEMOGLOBIN -CHECK DRIVE

    IMS Vidyarthini Manch organizes Hemoglobin check drive under SPPU - Vidhyarthini Arogya Prabodhan for women students. The students who are iron deficient will be supplied with iron supplementation.

  4. Guest Lectures

    Women activist are invited to address the women students of IMS on issues related to gender equity, domestic violence, sexual harassment, self defense and personality development.
